Since June, MPs across Canada have been reaching out to ask constituents for their ideas and feedback on how best to combat climate change. Here in North Vancouver, people have provided input through phone calls, letters, emails, and face to face meetings. On July 12th, I was extremely pleased to host over 250 people at our community climate change town hall. Participants provided ideas, thoughts and feedback on issues ranging from transportation, energy, agriculture, forestry, housing, urban development and economic opportunity.

I also held similar climate change sessions with other MPs, students at Capilano University, and with high schools students at most of the schools in the North Vancouver. I have hosted a number of climate change stakeholder roundtables in major cities in Western Canada in my capacity as Parliamentary Secretary for Environment and Climate Change. All of this input is being fed into the federal-provincial discussions relating to climate change and will contribute to the development of a Pan-Canadian Strategy for Climate Change and Clean Growth that will be discussed by First Ministers in October.
